more about the music

Liz and her Mother Joyce made the trip to the Big Apple to visit the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC). You can read all about the trip on the Log page, here are pictures!

Liz was a good sport and wore a mask on the flight to NYC

Joyce and Liz with Dr. Jimmie Holland, one of the wonderful staff doctors at MSKCC

Our dear friend Naomi Rhode, who lives in Phoenix, AZ, joined us for the consultation. She was in NYC attending a dental convention.

Liz fit right in on the streets of the Big Apple with her Christmas red!

When you go to NYC, you have to hit the "high spots" - nothing is higher than the Empire State Building

Liz talked to her daughter Jessica while taking in the impressive view from the 86th floor observation deck

Time to head to Broadway, but first - a dear Iona Sister, Jody Donohue, provided us a fabulous pre-show tea at Miss Mendel’s.

Liz napped with the Penguins...

...and ate with them. Harriet Kang and Daniel Wellner are two of the New York City Penguins,
fellow runners who have shared miles with Liz in the past

Nothing like hanging out in the streets of NYC during the holiday season

Still smiling - a lady of unceasing optimism and unyielding tenacity

The song that is playing is "Praise You In This Storm" by Casting Crowns.

As you listen to the words of this song, gaze at the photos of Liz and know that she breathes this message into her heart. Into her being.

The storm rages and still she hears the voice of one who heals, who loves beyond measure, who carries her when her strength fails.

Hope. Believe. Pray.
Be in the moment.
With Liz.

The Lyrics:
words by Mark Hall/music by Mark Hall and Bernie Herms

I was sure by now, God, You would have reached down
and wiped our tears away,
stepped in and saved the day.
But once again, I say amen
and it's still raining
as the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain,
"I'm with you"
and as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise
the God who gives and takes away.

Chorus:
And I'll praise you in this storm
and I will lift my hands
for You are who You are
no matter where I am
and every tear I've cried
You hold in your hand
You never left my side
and though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm

I remember when I stumbled in the wind
You heard my cry to You
and raised me up again
my strength is almost gone how can I carry on
if I can't find You
and as the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain
"I'm with you"
and as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise
the God who gives and takes away

Chorus

I lift my eyes unto the hills
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth
I lift my eyes unto the hills
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth

Chorus
