Running for the Stars
Liz is a marathoner - and life is never a Sprint. This journey
is just a litte tougher and maybe a little longer than most.
It is important to us that all of you are able to share this
long run. Many of you have trained with Liz, or joined her
on marathons run across the USA. This is a marathon where
Liz will reach further than ever before - all the way to the
stars. Stay with us...we've got a lot more running to do.
Liz has written about her Cancer Journey,
which started a year ago. It's a powerful bit of writing,
as she goes into detail about the symptoms and pains and treatments
and worries and uncertainties...and hopes. Click
here to read it, but be forewarned it's a very honest
portrayal of this, her most challenging marathon of all.
We will be posting a status in the area below periodically
under News Updates. You can submit
a message that will be forwarded to Liz by clicking on the
link above or at the bottom of this page. If you don't hear
back from her right away it doesn't mean she feels too bad
to write - it may be simply that she's too busy living life
at the moment!

15-November-08
- Pics from the UNDY 5000
Team
Lizzy showed up to mark the FIRST annual Arizona UNDY
5000. Attendance broke records for a first-time UNDY 5000 event
- 1,250 came to make a difference. Every 9 minutes a balloon
was released to draw attention to the statistic--that every
9 minutes someone dies of colon cancer! Click
here to see the pictures of Team Lizzy at the UNDY5000

- Join the UNDY team, update from the Oncologist, Norway pics
I
am kicking off my promotion of UNDY 5000 for Colorectal
Cancer Arizona this weekend and here is the link to
register for Team Lizzy as a runner and that can be virtual
if you live out of state or just donate to me. And how it works
if you register to be a walker/runner you will get a pair of
really cool boxers, if you raise $100 you will get the boxers
and a Really cool T-shirt! I am reaching for the stars, and
stating this race will be as big as Komen Race for the Cure
in a few years!!!!
So
when you go to the above link on the left side of the screen
you can register and be sure and sign up for Team Lizzy
or you can donate to ME and just look for me on the
list. If you need help just e-mail and ask! And if you really
want to help BIG TIME forward this e-mail to friends and family
and help me raise awareness and funds! The Phoenix UNDY 5000
is one of three test cities doing this race Philly and Dallas
are the other cities so since this is a “Test” I
want to be sure the powers to be know we want this race to stay!!!!
The race is November 15th and if you are out
of state and wanna come we have plenty of room at Morningstar
Lane
I
met with my oncologist today and I graduated again to 6 month
visits and every 3 month blood tests, Yahoo!!!! He was very
glad to admit he was wrong and that I was his first patient
in 30 years at Stage III to refuse post surgical Chemo, the
Chemo I had before surgery did me in enough and I knew I could
beat the Beast without the additional Chemo! My decision was/is
not for everyone but it is working for me! Still have my kidney
stint surgeries though and another next week on the 17th of
September, so say a little prayer for me on that day!
Oh
- one more thing - Pictures of my hike in Norway can be seen
by clicking
here, then clicking on "Norway 2008". Don't miss
it!

Liz
- I just visited your site after you shared the link
with me on The Colon Club board (this is JOM - thanks
for sharing your knowledge for my brother-in-law) and
I am in awe of your story, your site, and how much life
you have! Very inspirational to all!!! Thanks for sharing.

From Jodi Watson, Draper, UT
Hi
Liz,
I
just read your story on your website. What an amazing
person you are. Absolutely amazing. What strikes me
is your great attitude and beautiful smile.
I was just diagnosed with thyroid cancer in November
and will not have to endure nearly the amount of trauma
that you have gone through. One day at a time, right?!
Thank
you for being an inspiration to me.
12/3:
From Ron Horton, Charlotte, NC
This
weekend we ran the Victory Junction Gang Half Marathon.
You
can see pictures here. It is a great race for a
great cause, Victory Junction Gang Camp was started
by the Petty family of NASCAR fame and benefits chronically
ill children. I thought about the struggle those kids
go through and the strength they and their family must
have - but then, I've already seen that strength in
you and your family. I also have seen the way your family
cares for others, from here to Africa. That caring comes
back to you, as so many of us are still lifting you
up in our prayers for continued recovery and healing
so that one day all of this is just a collection of
"do you remember when?" stories. Keep that
walking training going, RnR isn't that far away!
11/1:
From Carol Wilson, Charlotte, NC
Dear
Liz,
Ron
just told me about your site. I am numb to think about
all you have endured. I thank God that it looks as though
you now have good hope for the future.
He
says you read my site (http://www.carolwilsonupdate.blogspot.com/)
as well. Then you know that I got off way easier than
you did, but my prognosis isn't so good. God knows!
Your long journey with getting a diagnosis makes me
wonder whether they've really got mine right after all.
(They said "primary peritoneal ovarian type"
but never anything more specific.) Anyway, after 44
chemo treatments, we're back to the drawing board since
the CA 125 numbers are up to 354. Still, I feel well.
Go figure! God is good.
Your
story is amazing. I'm glad Ron told me about it.

I'm
so excited...I decided yesterday morning to join your
mom in the 13 mile walkathon....don't know how to train
but will learn this next week. Roger Soler(Soler Sports),our
running guru will help me! Last time I talked to him
some thieves had stolen all his running shoes...dirty
rats!
I love it that you're doing so well...that's my candle
on your web page from Texas. I love your sig. too

Time " by Maire
Brennan. It was posted by Tom, Liz's brother - who wrote
this: As always, keep those candles lit against the
darkness of Fear. Trusting in Love, however it is you
conceive it, keep one palm toward the sky or mother earth,
and the other toward Liz..

Maire
Brennan - Perfect Time
Believe me
I'm not afraid
Teach me
To learn your ways
Carry me
Under your wings
In your perfect time
Only
you
Can dreams come true
Only you
Can make me shine
Only you
Can days be right
In your perfect time
I
know You told me that I'm not alone
You know I couldn't do it on my own
See my eyes are older now
Broken dreams behind
Fill my heart with precious love
I know it's there to find
Believe
me
I'm not afraid
Teach me
To learn your ways
Carry me
Under your wings
In your perfect time
Only
you
Can dreams come true
Only you
Can make me shine
Only you
Can days be right
In your perfect time
precious
love
You gave me
precious love
I know forgiveness is the key not pride
I want to heal this pain I hold inside
Free my fears and promise me
That you won't let me go
You're the one to comforrt me
The past my God You know
Believe
me
I'm not afraid
Teach me
To learn your ways
Carry me
Under your wings
In your perfect time
Only
you
Can dreams come true
Only you
Can make me shine
Only you
Can days be right
In your perfect time
